It’s not quite as long as the one that gets you familiarised with Dying Light 2, but it is comprehensive.įortunately, Cal has neither lost his memory, nor his lightsaber or moves, and the tutorial gives you ample opportunity to reacquaint (or indeed, acquaint) yourself with all of these. Just as with Fallen Order, Cal’s latest outing too kicks off with an action-packed opening chapter that serves to not only situate you within the story (and in this case, bring you upto speed with the events of the last game), but also as quite a thorough tutorial. Wall-running remains an essential and thoroughly satisfying part of the series. Primarily, I wanted to be told a cracking story - something that the Star Wars franchise is finding increasingly difficult to do these days. Sure, some of the character development was interesting, but that’s one of the things I was there for.

The combat, which up until then was the only saving grace, stopped being as much fun because of the drudgery that was the by-the-numbers story. It was around eight or nine hours in that I found myself thoroughly frustrated with, and more pertinently disinterested in, what was unfolding in front of me. But that is a topic for a different day, and certainly not the day after Star Wars Day. If you ask me, it’s turned into less of a cataclysmic event and more of a convenient trope onto which every one of the franchise’s offerings tends to happily hop. After all every second piece of Star Wars content these days is about this Jedi or the other who survived the purge.

Maybe it’s just me or maybe Order 66 - Darth Sidious’ command to purge the galaxy of all Jedis - was pretty inefficient and nowhere near as effective as it once seemed. If this was a TV show, here’s where you’d hear the record scratch - Order 66… ugh.
